we in Cackalcky can report on humid days, breezy evenings, thunderstorm warnings, naked babies, and (from the garden) lots of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash flowers and hornworms (see that one above? it is being devoured by friendly parasitic wasps! cute!) oh and ellen's ripe blackberries.

dad and i went into kate's house and hacked down some bamboo for bean tee pees (tipis?) and dad lashed together a real fine cucumber trellis (see it there on top?) for my little garden.

dad heads back up north this morning, traveling as no one has before, by bus! bon voyage, dad!!

Free Mersie!

Mike and Reed plan an elaborate escape for Mers involving sedating the kidnappers with mint and hijacking the train to Carcasonne. After hours of well-considered practice they are ready to act on Wednesday.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We have been posting very many blog posts and have heard absolutely nothing in return from any other Dillons! In order to insure that we get to see a blogpost from all the members of the Dillon family we have taken Mers hostage. If you don't believe us here is a picture.

Parisian days

I didn't die today, or any of the other days actually. In fact this trip has been really great! Today we went to Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and many other museums, exactly like your run of the mill tourists! We were even lucky enough to complete the image by stopping to navigate every few blocks with huge maps and what are probably very loud American voices. I can only assume the Parisians love us.

The Eiffel tower was breathtaking. As the sky outside got darker the tower lit up more and more. I am sure that it's radiance was being used as a contact beam for creatures from another planet. Anyways, one of us bloggers will keep you informed on the level of peacefulness these aliens came with.

Louvre

Everybody went to the louvre today. Although both me and my dad´s cameras crashed fron loss of energy, we managed to get some good pictures. It´s very late here in Paris so I will post pics tommorrow!

Sunday in Paris

Second full day in Paris! We met Ruth And her son Ric at the Pompidou Center then walked to the Louvre. Here we are cooling off in the pool in front of the Louvre. (Gayle, Zarha, Ric, Auden and Ruth) Went inside and met Henry and Meredith at the Mona Lisa.

Dinner with everyone at small restaurant behind the Hotel Villa and a street away from the Seine.

Watched the sun set from the tip of Ile de la Cite at 9:45 pm and walked home. It is now 12 am and we are making a plan for the morrow. Good night!

They also serve who sit and wait!

The chauffeurs gather at Jackson Hole for NYC's best burger after depositing the travelers at JFK.

Look out Paris here we come!

The day before take off we were notified the flight would be delayed one hour. From 9:50 PM to 10:50 PM. Yet at 7:30 PM when we checked the flight status we found the flight still listed for a 9:50 take off. We called in panic and were told  that it was still scheduled for that time. Rushing to the airport to make the earlier time, we found that indeed the 10:50 PM takeoff was accurate. Ugg!
Still better early than too late. Rumors were about that President Obama was either flying in or out of JFK at the time.
Here the group arrives at Terminal 1 JFK. Bon Voyage!

Gigi and Mersie arrive in NYC

The European contingent is gathering. Mersie will travel to Paris with the rest of  the crew Thursday night. She'll meet Henry there and spend a few days before going to Berlin.  Zarha arrives tomorrow. I got some Euros from Chase Bank today but I think it was no bargain. The official rate was 1.43 and Chase charged me 1.51. I think they will do better over there. Although, it seems the Euro is on the rise. Ugh!

Where are you this summer?? What are you doing??? Where is eveyone else??

This summer it seems everyone is going off in many directions. Some to Paris and Spain, some to Paris and Germany, Some into the woods for camping. Others of us, like Mike is staying close to home getting ready to get his knee fixed in a month.
Hopefully most of us will hook up in August in Maine for the Reed Reunion. But in the meantime, one easy way to stay in contact and to learn what fun things we all are having is to share this blog. Why not post something  now and then to let the rest of us know just what we are missing. Maybe a picture or two once in a while will be terrific.
Meanwhile, we'll keep the travelers informed on the excitement they are missing here at home!! Ugh!
